Dear Camera Club Member, At least one member could not open the attachments on my last newsletter, so I will repeat the information on this page. On the subject of exhibiting prints in Leeds hospitals , let me bring you up to date on the permanent prints we are hoping to supply to the new Bexley Wing of St James’s. After discussions on Monday it is now agreed that we will supply up to 100 pictures to decorate the corridors and waiting areas in the hospital. Ideally we would like a couple of hundred images by the end of Septembers, so please start thinking (it’s a very good cause). The images don’t need to be competition winners, but they do need to follow a general theme of peace and tranquillity. We submitted a sample 120 images on disc to try and establish the kind of pictures they would like, the results were interesting. These were the preferred images ;-
OK, so they are not all international prize winners, but they do display a
general theme. Keep it simple, keep away from strong contrasting colours and
keep away from manmade structures. The original theme was cultivation, though we
have agreed that this can now be widened to include gardens and landscapes,
provided they are restful. We also think there is room for a slightly broader
approach (as different members of Hospital staff may be selecting in future), so
feel free to offer a few ‘wild cards’. There will be no expense to you, the
images will be submitted on disc and commercially printed, the file sizes should
be as large as possible (as if you are unclear as to what I mean), and the final
print sizes will be up to A2, though one or two panoramas may be required at
larger sizes. You may submit as many images as possible, it would be nice if you
all came up with twenty, but do try and submit a few (I will become a pest if
YOU ignore this request ;o) The images will possibly be on the hospital walls
for up to 10 years. Feel free to start giving me, or any member of the committee
your discs.
Yours sincerely
